Orissa regain Jr National girls football trophy

Host Orissa pipped defending champions Manipur 1-0 in the final to regain the trophy at the 8th Girls Junior National Football Championship at Satyabrata Stadium in Cuttack today. After a barren first half, striker Deogi Murmu scored the all-important goal in the 49th minute. All India Football Federation vice-president Subrat Dutta gave away the trophy at the closing function. Food and Civil Supply Minister Sarada Prasad Nayak and Orissa Olympic Association secretary Asirbad Behera were present on the occasion. Orissa earlier finished runners-up six times in the championship.
